The beloved Southern Resident orcas are unlike any other orca population in the world, and they’re also one of the most endangered. These orcas survived on the Pacific Northwest’s abundant runs of salmon for millennia, but as salmon populations have declined, the orcas have suffered. Join environmental groups Defenders of Wildlife and Whale & Dolphin Conservation for a special screening of Dammed to Extinction, a new documentary that explores the relationship between Southern Resident orcas, salmon, and four obsolete dams on the lower Snake River in Washington state.
We’ll be joined by musical guest Dana Lyons, currently on his extensive “Rise for the Orca” Tour, raising awareness and building political will to protect the Southern Resident orcas and their home.
Join us for the film and an informative conversation about how to get involved with our partners from Defenders of Wildlife and Whale & Dolphin Conservation, as well as filmmakers Michael Peterson and Steven Hawley! There will also be snacks from Patagonia Provisions and drink provided by Hopworks Brewery, JuneShine, and Brew Dr. Kombucha.
